Building an Effective Legacy Ministry
August 13 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Did you know that roughly 70% of the folks in your congregation will die without a will? And, of the 30% that do have a will, only 1 in 40 of those have included ministry as a beneficiary? This is a travesty… but it certainly doesn’t have to end this way.
Over the past 7 years, we have sought out to equip churches to have a Legacy ministry which enables them to serve their members with professional coaching that helps them get wills and powers of attorney in place. As a result, we have been able to help 640 familes put plans in place that provided well for their family and honored their Faith. After working with those familes, they committed over $200 million in future gifts to ministries. About 50% of this is going directly to the churches where the members were already faithful supporters.
On top of this, pastors deal with death in their congregations on a regular basis. This is a great way to serve them with some practical help that they so desparately need and do it from a biblical perspective which is simply missing in the attorney’s office.
Join us to hear a short message about this ministry from Barry Bledsoe, president of The Baptist Foundation of Alabama and Rod Marshall of the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home and Family Ministries. Afterwards, Dave Keesling, co-founder of Philanthrocorp will discuss some biblical principles of estate planning and how it applies to each of us. This event is co-sponsored by SABA and ABCH.
This Just In! We will be catering from Zach’s. The menu will be: Fried pork chop, baked chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, mustard greens, creamed corn, cheese biscuits, cornbread, and banana pudding!
