Larry D. Layne

Chaplain

Larry D. Layne joined The Baptist Foundation of Alabama as Chaplain in October 2016.

Larry came to The Baptist Foundation after more than twenty seven years as Senior Chaplain with Baptist Hospice, Baptist Health System of Montgomery, Alabama. More recently he served as Pastoral Care Coordinator with the Veterans Administration Health Care System in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Larry is a native Alabamian (Huntsville) with a B. A. from Samford University and a M. Div. from Southwestern Seminary in Ft Worth, Texas. He completed a residency in Clinical Pastoral Education through Baptist Health System, Birmingham, Alabama. He holds Board Certified status through the Association of Professional Chaplains. He currently serves as a Chaplain (Col) at the State Headquarters of the Alabama Air National Guard, Montgomery, Alabama.

Larry is married to Royce (Moorman) Layne, a native of Huntsville, AL. Their daughter Heather and son-in-law Seth reside in California. His hobbies include fishing, reading, and travel.
