> 2002
* Former Foundation president, C. Warren Trussell, Jr. passed
away.
* Foundation president joins
NAELA - National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.
* Record year for new charitable bequests and growth totaling more
than $16 million.
* Many exciting developments are taking place behind the scenes at
your Baptist foundation.
Beginning in 2001, The Foundation performed a major technology
upgrade installing both a new server and desktop PCs. This upgrade
gave us the ability to establish an internet presence, intranet, and
email capabilities.
Late in 2001, we began the installation of a state-of-the-art
trust accounting system which gives us the capability for fast and
accurate reporting, up-to-the-minute market reports, and direct
links with our investment consultants and managers.
Recently, The Foundation installed a modern phone system with
voice mail capabilities enabling Foundation clients to reach us
around the clock. For many of the Foundation's elderly clientele,
being able to get in touch is crucial. Of course, we will always
have a live voice to talk with you when you need us during normal
business hours. With many of our staff traveling to various parts of
the state, this will allow regular voice mail checks and client call
backs.
These changes will prepare The Foundation for future growth. God
continues to bless the ministry and work of The Baptist Foundation
of Alabama as we fulfill our role in assisting ALL Alabama Baptist
individuals, churches, associations, and organizations.
Attorney Joins National Academy
Barry Bledsoe, of The Baptist Foundation of AL, has joined the
National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Inc. (NAELA). Membership in
the Academy is open to licensed attorneys who are practicing in the
area of elder law or who are interested in legal issues pertaining
to the elderly.
The National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys is a professional
association of attorneys concerned with improving the availability
and delivery of legal services to the older person. With the
emergences of elder law as an acknowledged area of practice, NAELA
is striving to define the area of practice, establish standards, and
create an information network among elder law attorneys. Through
NAELA, attorneys exchange ideas and information on substantive elder
law issues and the development of an elder law practice. The Academy
was formed in 1987 and currently has more than 4000 members.
